Basic Cable

The Basic Cable Television Agreement covers programs initially aired on Basic Cable television. Dramatic and non-dramatic television films, whether series or stand-alone projects like movies of the week, generally are covered by the Television Film Agreement, even if they first air on Basic Cable.

Basic Cable television is the group of non-broadcast channels that a viewer receives either through a cable line or a satellite dish for which he or she pays no specific charge. A&E, Nickelodeon and CNN are examples of Basic Cable channels, while channels such as Showtime and In-Demand Pay-Per-View would fall under the Non-Standard Television (Pay-TV) Agreement.
