Copyright plays a role in every stage of the music-making process—from composing and recording to licensing and distribution. During this presentation, representatives from the U.S. Copyright Office will introduce the fundamentals of copyright protection for music, explain the rights associated with musical works and sound recordings, discuss common music licensing concepts, and explore the benefits of copyright registration.

Presenters will also share resources developed by the Copyright Office specifically for musicians and a Copyright Registration Toolkit.
