In the wake of the destruction caused by hurricanes Fiona and Ian, the AFM is offering assistance through its Emergency Relief Fund.
Members in good standing who reside in or were employed as musicians in areas designated by FEMA as Federal Disaster Areas for Individual Assistance are encouraged to apply to the AFM Hurricane Relief Fund. Download the AFM Hurricane Relief Fund application from the AFM website and follow the instructions.
Musicians affected by natural disasters and public health crises, such as COVID, can also apply for financial assistance from Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund). For information and other resources available, visit: https://entertainmentcommunity.org/am-i-eligible-help.
Union members who participate in Union Plus programs may be eligible for additional financial assistance through the Union Plus Disaster Relief program. To date, this fund has provided nearly $1 million in assistance to union members facing hardships. Members can help support fellow musicians in need with a donation to the AFM Emergency Relief Fund. Checks can be sent to the AFM Emergency Relief Fund; American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada; 1501 Broadway, 9th Floor; New York, NY 10036, or via the PayPal link on the www.afm.org/emergency-assistance page. All Relief Fund donations go into a separate account for distribution to AFM members in need who are in good standing. Please note that contributions are not tax deductible.
