Important Notice Regarding Dues Obligations

Important Notice Regarding Dues Obligations
of Musicians employed under US Collective Bargaining Agreements Containing Union Security Provisions
The Federation's International Executive Board (IEB) has made two minor changes regarding the obligations of musicians employed under US collective bargaining agreements containing union security clauses. First, the IEB no longer requires that musicians who object to paying full dues submit individual objections to the full dues obligation. Commencing immediately, the Federation will accept group objections. Second, the IEB has changed the requirement that objections be resubmitted every year. Therefore, also commencing immediately, musicians who otherwise file a timely and proper objection (or who have already done so) will be treated as having filed a continuing objection until such time as they advise their local union that they no longer object. These changes do not in any way alter any other portion of the Federation's policy regarding musicians who choose to pay less than full dues, including the fact that such musicians will not be entitled to the benefits of membership in the Federation or any local union. For a full text of the Federation's revised Policy, see Revised Beck Notice.
