What we do: tours tours tours
Are you touring or using a booking agent? Do you need a letter of no objection for a visa application? Below is a short explanation of what our department can do for you and some very helpful links.
TOURING SHOWS and TOURING ACTS
We negotiate, administer, and enforce contract agreements for musicians touring with theatrical musicals such as "Spamalot," "Wicked," "The Lion King," and "Phantom of the Opera." We negotiate contracts for the musicians who back up performers such as Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond and for the musicians who perform with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circuses. We also maintain a list of non union shows.
P and O VISA APPLICATIONS
As a labor union, we have the authority to monitor visa applications for foreign musical groups such as "U2" from Ireland, "Bjork" from Scandinavia, and the Berlin Philharmonic when they come to perform in the United States.
United States Immigration rules require an advisory from the union on the status of musicians entering the country on various kinds of visas.
BOOKING AGENTS
We franchise booking agents who meet the highest standards of professional service. Booking Agents work on commission to connect musicians with people who want to purchase their services. Through their contracts with purchasers, these agents agree that there will be no hidden costs or fees and no surprises in the amount of commission or in the services offered. AFM musicians contracted by the agency also adhere to the highest professional standards. Our Booking Agent Directory is provided for musicians and anyone interested in hiring musicians.
The AFM Booking Division is now providing two new services to our valued Signatory Agents.
Our first new benefit to AFM booking agents is totally free and could really increase your visibility to prospective clients. You will now be able to post bios, pictures, repertoire, and other promotional materials of AFM Bands that you represent on our GoPro Music Website. Point your browser to http://www.gopromusic.com to see how this service can work for you. There are certain conditions that will apply.
Also, the AFM is now offering domain name and web hosting service to our Signatory Booking Agents. Your present web design and functionality need not be altered. The only difference will be that you save money! More information on our discounted membership rates is available at http://www.goprohosting.com.
